Steve Tyrell, the new standard in jazz vocals, returns to the Basie to celebrate his new album, "Back to Bacharach." A master interpreter of the great songs written for the great singers and crooners, his previous albums (A New Standard, This Guy's In Love, Standard Time, Songs of Sinatra) consistently attain the Top 3 chart positions on Billboard's Jazz Chart. Before becoming a performer in his own right, Tyrell had a long and illustrious career behind the scenes as a Grammy Award winning and Emmy Award nominated record and soundtrack producer. His own songs have been recorded by Ray Charles, Diana Ross, Elvis Presley and LL Cool J and "How Do You Talk To An Angel" written for Fox TV became a #1 hit pop song. He's produced sessions for Rod Stewart, Elton John, Bette Midler, Dolly Parton, Chaka Kahn, Linda Ronstadt, Aaron Neville and Bonnie Raitt. As a film music producer and supervisor his credits include "Something's Gotta Give," "Father of the Bride," "That Think You Do," "An American Tale" and "Click." But singing the Great American Songbook is his passion. "They don't write songs like this anymore. The art of expressing your desire and needs without being crude or obvious is seen best in the songs...I believe these songs are America's greatest contribution to the arts. This is what brings me the most satisfaction and what I believe is my true calling."

The members of America, Gerry Beckley, Dewey Bunnell and Dan Peek, all met in high school in England, where all three had English mothers and American fathers in the armed services. They were barely teenagers when they became an overnight sensation in 1972, scoring Top 10 Hits with "A Horse with No Name," "Ventura Highway," "Tin Man," and "Sister Golden Hair." They were so successful that they attracted the services of the Beatles' producer, George Martin, for 7 albums. Dan Peek departed in 1977, but Beckley and Bunnell returned to the Top 10 in 1982 with "You Can Do Magic" and they still do over 100 shows a year. Their latest releast is 2007's Here & Now, their first major label studio release in over twenty years. Still a classic rock radio favorite, they've been covered by Garth Brooks, appeared on Howard Stern's Radio Show and are featured on the soundtracks of The Sopranos, the Simpsons and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.

Celebrate the re-opening of the Count Basie Theatre after being closed for interior renovations this summer with a no-holds-barred Q&A with the audience. For the uninitiated, Smith is the local native whose films include Clerks (1994), which won the highest award at the Sundance Film Festival; Mallrats (1995); Chasing Amy (1997), which won two Independent Spirit Awards for Best Screenplay and Best Supporting Role; Dogma (1999); Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back (2001); Jersey Girl (2004) and Clerks II (2006). He's also an award winning comic book writer; a film school drop out; an Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters (Illinois Wesleyan University, 2000); owner of his own comic book store (Jay & Silent Bob's Secret Stash in Red Bank and now in California) and his own production company (ViewAskew) and he makes short films for the Jay Leno Show. His new movie, "Zack and Miri Make a Porno," is set for release just a week earlier, so this could be a very interesting and timely dialogue!

His groundbreaking 1994 performance on MTV, which revolutionized pop music with the blockbuster hit record Unplugged, caused the New York Times to say that, "Tony Bennett has not just bridged the generation gap, he has demolished it. He has solidly connected with the younger crowd weaned on rock. And there have been no compromises." Tony Bennett is one of the rare artists who can move the hearts and the soul of an audience. Much more than a concert, In the Mood is a retro 1940s Musical, a Big Band Theatrical Swing Revue featuring the In the Mood Singers and Dancers and the sensational String of Pearls Big Band Orchestra. In the Mood is a celebration of a time when all America listened and danced to the same music, which moved a nation's spirit, helped win a World War and set the mood for a future filled with promise, hope and prosperity. The arrangements are as authentic as it gets, with the up-tempo big band instruments and intimate, romantic ballads of Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Artie Shaw, Benny Goodman, Harry James, The Andrews Sisters and Frank Sinatra all included. The National Archives brought In the Mood to Washington D.C. as part of their commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of WWII. The engagement was twice extended, repeated in 1993 outside on Constitution Avenue and since then In the Mood has toured the States and Europe repeatedly.

Join the Italian-American tenor who can sing it all, from the heroic volleys of Puccini's "Nessun Dorma," to the tender phrases of "O Sole Mio," for his full orchestra tribute to Luciano Pavarotti. Blessed with movie-star looks, charm and a classic Italian tenor voice, The New York Times declared that this, "Swashbuckling Italian tenor exhibits both the voice and charisma of a crossover star." He sang for Pope John Paul II, for Luciano Pavarotti and has appeared in opera houses worldwide, as well as at The Sands in Atlantic City, the Algonquin Hotel, St. Patrick's Cathedral and Shea Stadium, where he sang the national anthem during the 2000 playoffs. Says Amante, "I love being the tenor in the opera, but it's a very small world. I want to share this beautiful music with everyone." He's been featured on NBC's coverage of New York City's Columbus Day Parade and is the winner of the Italian Charities' Christopher Columbus Award, the Lione de San Marco Award for opera, Il Cuore di Carabinieri and the Sergio Franchi Foundation Award.

A spectacular company of dancer/illusionists, Momix and choreographer, Moses Pendleton are on, "An endless search for another gravity." Using an inventive mix of athletics, dance, theatre, comedy, riveting music, outrageous costumes, inventive props and light, shadow and the human body, they create shows that transport audiences from the everyday to a surreal fantasy world of exceptional beauty. Momix has created an odd but compelling roster of projects, including stage performances in over 22 countries, appearances on PBS's "Dance in America," creating new work to celebrate Opening Day at the San Francisco Giants' new spring training park and feature film appearances including F/X2 and in one of the first IMAX 3-D films, Imagine. The Chicago Tribune calls Momix "inspired vaudevillians" and "crowd pleasers," giving their programs, "A charge of amusement and excitement absent for many years from modern dance." The NY Times calls Momix, "This zany group," the Toronto Globe and Mail calls Momix "mad and marvelous," and the L.A. Herald Examiner says, "Momix is ideal for turning audiences onto dance."

A beautifully orchestrated presentation of Chinese circus acts dating back to the harvest festivals of 2000 years ago, but in a modern day performance with fabulous choreography, amazing lighting, enchanting scenery and powerful music, the New Shanghai Circus was the first Chinese acrobatic troupe ever to appear on Broadway. The astonishing athletes of the New Shanghai Circus routinely defy gravity, stretching the limits of human ability in each spellbinding performance. If it's humanly possible and sometimes even if it's not, the company's acrobats, jugglers and contortionists do it with spectacular flair. The New York Times described their performance as, "Feats of circus art that reach literally breathtaking heights of skill...the New Shanghai Circus is providing entertainment in abundance;" The Boston Globe said, "Everyone was delighted with their skill poise, charm and flourish...a very entertaining show...;" and the Los Angeles Times described the performance as, "Showstopping rarities of daunting difficulty." CBS News said simply, "Fantastic."
