ReserveAid is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to providing financial support to the families of Reserve Service Members from all services, who have been called to active duty and are experiencing financial difficulty. Their goal is to alleviate the emotional and financial burdens placed on the men and women called to serve our country by supporting their families at home.
Severe Clear is a 90 minute non-political documentary based on the journal notes of First Lieutenant Mike Scotti as well as video footage shot by him and other members of 1st Battalion, 4th Marines on the outset of the 2003 invasion of Iraq. Mike, who met Beth at Red Bank Catholic High School, carried her picture with him during his tour in Iraq and his memory of her is threaded throughout the film. "The King and I" Presented by: Phoenix Productions
Tickets: $29, $26, $22
Experience the wonder and magic of this immortal masterpiece when Phoenix Productions, Central Jersey’s award-winning community theatre company, presents Rodgers & Hammerstein's The King & I from September 17 – 26 at the Count Basie Theater. The music which includes “Hello Young Lovers”, “Shall We Dance”, and “We Kiss in the Shadows” will echo in your mind for years to come. Show times are 8:00pm Fridays and Saturdays and 3:00 pm on Sundays. In The King & I, the classic clash of East versus West makes for a dramatic, haunting and ultimately uplifting tale of love, learning and forgiveness. It is 1862 in when Anna, a strong willed British tutor and her young son arrive at the Royal Palace in Bangkok, Siam, having been hired by the imperious King to serve as tutor to his many children and wives. The King’s barbaric image, system of governing and ultimately his will are all challenged by Anna’s “modern” ways. While keeping a firm grip on their respective traditions and values, Anna and the King eventually grow to understand and respect one another, in a truly unique love story. Along with the dazzling score, the incomparable Jerome Robbins ballet, "The Small House of Uncle Thomas," is one of the great treasures of the musical stage.

Brandi Carlile ![]() Presented by: 90.5 The NIGHT
Brought to you by: Concerts East, Inc. & AEG Live
Tickets: $30.50, $21
Katie Herzig will be the opener. “I was just overwhelmed by the years, and by the influence that
somebody can have on another person’s life without even knowing it.” – Brandi
Carlile
Brandi Carlile’s third album, Give Up The Ghost, unveils her talents in
their truest form. After two albums and non-stop touring, she has let her guard
down and offers her most candid recording to date. If the phrase “give up the
ghost” most often refers to death or dying, it can also be used to describe the
passing of stages in life, of transformation.
“To give up the
ghost is not just to die since we do it a handful of times throughout our
lives. It’s a sort of leaving yourself behind,” she explains. “Or what you knew
yourself to be so that you can grow and transcend love or youth. Sometimes
both.”
The recording of Give Up The Ghost offered
new experiences including working with the likes of Elton John, Tom Petty and
the Heartbreakers multi-instrumentalist Benmont Tench, drummer Chad Smith and
Amy Ray of The Indigo Girls, all of whom contribute to the album.

The B-52s Presented by: AM Productions
Tickets: $128, $78, $58, $38
The
first of many acts to cement the college town of Athens, GA, as a hotbed of
alternative music, The B-52's took their name from the Southern slang for the
mile-high bouffant wigs sported by singers Kate Pierson and Cindy Wilson, a
look emblematic of the band's campy, thrift-store aesthetic. In 1979, they issued their self-titled debut album, a collection of manic,
bizarre, and eminently danceable songs which scored an underground club hit
with "Rock Lobster." In 1989, they released Cosmic Thing, their most commercially successful effort to date. The album launched several hit singles, including the party smash "Love Shack," and "Roam". The year 2008 found the band returning with a new album for the first time in 16 years. Released by Astralwerks, Funplex, was a slick, synthesizer-driven effort produced by Steve Osborne.
