Lyle Lovett is one of the most revered and eclectic artists of our time. The Texas-born singer/songwriter's appeal has already lasted more than two decades, thanks to critically acclaimed albums such as the Gold-certified albums "Lyle Lovett" (1986), "Pontiac" (1987), "Lyle Lovett And His Large Band" (1989), "Joshua Judges Ruth" (1992), "I Love Everybody" (1994), and "The Road to Ensenada" (1996). He has won four Grammy Awards, including Best Country Album (1996 for The Road to Ensenada), Best Country Duo/Group with Vocal (1994 for "Blues For Dixie" with Asleep at the Wheel), Best Pop Vocal Collaboration (1994 for "Funny How Time Slips Away" with Al Green), and Best Country Male Vocal (1989 for Lyle Lovett and His Large Band). Also known for an idiosyncratic acting career, he's played distinctive parts in the feature films Short Cuts, Ready to Wear, Cookie's Fortune, Bastard out of Carolina, The Opposite of Sex, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas and The New Guy. His last two Basie appearances were sold out!
