FULL/PART TIME OPPORTUNITIES

Education & Outreach Associate (Full Time)
The Count Basie Theatre Performing Arts Academy seeks an Education and Outreach Associate to work at its historic Red Bank, NJ location. Under the direction of the Arts Education and Outreach Manager and the general direction of the Director of Education, the Education and Outreach Associate will provide full-time support to the theatre’s ever-growing Education Department. The ideal candidate will help implement and support initiatives within the outreach program, and demonstrate a can-do attitude with a passion for arts and arts education.
 
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree
• Background in the arts as they pertain to education, Arts administration and / or communications
• Background in the field of education, particularly curriculum
• Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to communicate effectively both orally and in written form, with colleagues of different ages, interests, and backgrounds
• Knowledge of current education strategies and practices and / or arts integration
• Must be able to multi-task and perform job responsibilities with minimal supervision
• Must be a team player and be able to work in a fast-paced environment and be able to prioritize tasks and deliverables effectively
• Strong work ethic, creative and proactive thinker, positive attitude
• Proven ability to work well within deadlines on multiple and varied projects simultaneously
 
The Education and Outreach Associate will work within several of the Education Department’s current and planned initiatives, including but not limited to a new collective impact initiative, outreach in local schools, our relationship with the Kennedy Center’s Partners in Education program and more. The candidate will become a contact person for and develop relationships with key personnel at partner schools, and then maintain planning and preparation for activities in their classrooms. The candidate will also learn the duties and serve as a backup as required for the Education Assistant, including but not limited to management of registration software, calendars and class schedules. Attendance at Performing Arts Academy events will be required, and may contain some evening and weekend work.
 
Strong skills in all Microsoft Office Suite products is a must, along with the ability to work with databases, budget management and social media. Light photography skills are also useful.

Safety & Security Team Member (Part Time)
The Count Basie Theatre is seeking outgoing, service oriented candidates for our Safety & Security Team. Qualified candidates should have at least 3 years of experience in a related field such as EMT, law enforcement, or fire safety. First responders are encouraged to apply. The primary qualities and responsibilities of this position include:
 
• Comply with and enforce Count Basie Theatre’s Audience Code of Conduct, policies, and post orders.
Provide a visual deterrence by maintaining high visibility at all times.
Encourage and ensure guest safety and a positive experience through proactive personal intervention to resolve altercations or grievances.
• Safeguard against theft and property damage.
• Conduct detailed observation of people and property within area of responsibility.
• Respond to all safety and security calls in a timely and professional manner.
• Ability to adapt positively to frequently changing, fluid situations without the loss of efficiency or composure
• Ability to stand for 4+ hours
• Ability to lift 50lbs

Teaching Artists (Part Time)
The Count Basie Theatre Education and Outreach Program is currently seeking qualified and versatile Teaching Artists to join an our expanding program and an initiative for the 2015-2016 school year serving Monmouth and Ocean County students. At this time the targeted grades are 4th through 8th.
 
We are looking for dedicated Teaching Artists specializing in various genres including but not limited to: Dance: Hip-Hop, Cultural Dance Forms, Creative Dance and Movement; Drama: Poetry, Acting, Improv, Voice and Speech, Creative Drama, Readers Theatre, Musical Theatre; • Music: Vocal Instruction, Choir Instruction, Instrumental Instruction, Drumming; • Yoga, Capoeira, Zumba, etc.
 
Qualifications:
• Degree in your art form(s) preferred but not required
• At least 2 years of Teaching Artist experience within a diverse age group and educational settings
• Exceptional knowledge of content in your arts genre
• Strong communication skills
• Classroom management skills
• The ideal candidate is someone who has a passion for arts education and is able to commit to the duration of a program (September – June) while maintaining a consistent schedule.
 
Compensation: Compensation is commensurate with experience.

Usher (Part Time)
The Count Basie Theatre is seeking friendly, professional, and motivated ushers with excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. Ushers must be knowledgeable about the theatre, its policies, and programs. This is a part-time position and the number of hours worked is dependent upon several factors including experience, availability, and scheduling needs.
 
Qualifications: Excellent communication and customer service skills, friendly and positive manner, and physical ability to stand and seat patrons. Qualified ushers will also be expected to scan tickets, assist with merchandise selling, and help with special events.

Box Office Representative (Part Time)
The Count Basie Theatre is seeking motivated, professional, customer service oriented Box Office Sales Representatives. A Box Office Sales Representative is on the front lines for the Count Basie Theatre. This position is a resource of knowledge for upcoming performances, programs, special events, and an expert in customer service. This is a part-time position and hours will vary based on the theatre’s schedule. Box Office Representatives must be able to work days, evenings, and weekends.
 
Qualifications: Excellent communication, customer service skills, and computer knowledge, a pleasant phone manner and previous box office or ticketing software experience is a plus. Salary is hourly and based on experience.

Bartenders (Part Time)
The Count Basie Theatre maintains a roster of experienced bartenders to work with the regular bar staff on an as-needed basis. Working hours are typically from 5 or 6PM to about 11PM. Experience in an upscale restaurant or nightclub atmosphere is highly desired. Scheduling is flexible.
