Past participants will be evaluated based on professionalism and commitment to the art and asked to re-audition for acceptance into the Showcase Revue. Explore the types of shots and camera techniques that are used in today's acting industry. Study actual scripts from television and film. Explore the unique subtleties of film making and become well versed with the styles and language used on today's movie or television sets. Being familiar with a number of accents and dialects enhances your resume, and makes you a more competitive performer equipped with the tools necessary to address challenges as they arise. Course will cover Standard British, British Cockney, American Southern and Brooklyn. ACTING 101:The Meisner Technique 7:15-8:45pm Ages:13/Adult Fee:$255 Instructor: Ralph Colombino “Acting is the ability to live truthfully under imaginary circumstances." This class provides a practical, problem-solving approach to acting for film and television. Class curriculum includes an analysis of the differences between theatre, film and television acting. Course will instruct students how to develop techniques (Meisner based) for creating a natural, believable performance for film and television. A panel of director’s, actors and educators will observe a final class performance and offer feedback and suggestions for advancement and acceptance into the Intermediate/Advanced Level to be offered in the Winter Session. ROCKIT FOR KIDS ... A ROCK BAND PROGRAM Ages 8-16 Fees: Audition $10.00 (Due with application) Program: $290 (includes $10.00 registration fee) Instructor: Bruce Gallipani & Rockit Staff Acceptance and placement through audition. Vocalists, Drummers, Guitarists, Bass Guitarists, Keyboardists, Brass and String players are encouraged to complement their private studies with our live program. This program gives young musicians an instant opportunity to play Rock & Roll with their peers, bringing them together to perform live as a band and experience the dynamics of working together to achieve a common goal. All band classes are 55 minutes long and taught by qualified instructors. After the initial audition (and orientation class) the musicians will be divided into bands and for the next 6 weeks each band will rehearse. Audition Requirements and Procedure: Date: Sept.13, 2008 - You will be assigned a time when your application is received. Location: Street level classroom-3 doors to right of Box Office All students must be currently studying with an instructor and/or have a good musical knowledge of their instrument. All students must perform a two-minute selection that best represents their style and ability. Vocalists may audition with a karaoke CD musical accompaniment or sing acapella. Singing along with a prerecorded cd with vocals is not permitted. All other musicians may audition with live or CD accompaniment, or solo. Students are expected to bring their own guitars, drumsticks, brass and string instruments. All other equipment is provided. Students must attend all rehearsals unless extenuating circumstances should occur and all students must perform in the end of semester concert. The workshops, which have gained national acclaim, are designed to guide the novice and intermediate screenwriter through the process of creating a working screenplay. Cinematic structure, pitching techniques, and getting the completed screenplay into the hands of film industry decision makers are included in this weekend seminar. CINEMATIC STRUCTURE AND SCREENWRITING WEEKEND (Two-session course) Friday, January 16 - 6pm-9:30pm Saturday, January 17th - 10am-5pm (bagels and coffee served) Ages:16 – Adult Fee: $220 In this intensive session, aspiring screenwriters will take an in-depth look at cinematic structure and character development. Friday Evening: While screening a film selected by the group, writers will examine structural elements required for cinematic storytelling. Learn how to protect and maintain your voice. Class combines technique and performance habits to perfect voice and stage presence. Rosemary Conte – Rosemary’s name has long been associated with the best musicians from New Jersey and particularly the Jersey Shore. She spent many years teaching singing and songwriting as well as being a working singer who has performed and recorded with some of the world’s greatest musicians. This experience has enabled her students to go on to become Broadway performers, signed pop artists, busy jazz singers and winners of teen competitions. Today, in dual careers---singer/teacher and clinical hypnotherapist, she brings another dimension to the art by helping students gain freedom from creative inhibitions and make positive changes in their lives. In addition to her private practice, Rosemary has taught workshops at colleges, high schools, and elementary schools and is a former adjunct professor of voice at Monmouth University. Life-long artists’ advocate, Rosemary created and directed the seminal organization for musicians and singers, All Music Inc. and produced its companion publication and live shows.
