This is the perfect opportunity for beginner adults to try their hands at acting for TV and commercials. Instructor Bradley Mott brings a wealth of information on this fast paced industry -- from getting started and business basics to the audition process itself. Basic acting skills will also be explored.

THEATRE 360
Introducing THEATRE 360 - our audition-based program where accepted students will conceive, create and perform a children's theatre piece. Like it's name suggests, this is a full-circle stage experience, from creation to curtain. THEATRE 360 will meet twice weekly on both Mondays and Wednesdays for 10 weeks.

Using professional scripts and commercial copy, students will explore the skills necessary for onscreen acting for the camera. Their development of self-expression, clear diction and a natural performance style is the prime focus in this class.

ROCK VOCAL TECHNIQUE
This class focuses on the world of classic and contemporary rock music. Students will learn to sing like so
me of rock’s all-time greats, honing their own vocal techniques and performance style in the process.

TEEN IMPROV
Teens will learn the art of improvisation through a series of exercises and games taught by Michael O’Keeffe, director of the Count Basie Theatre’s Teen Improv
 Troupe. Designed for both serious actors and those just dabbling in improv, this class will help students think on their feet and develop collaboration skills necessary for success in both the classroom and a career.

ADULT VOICE-OVER TECHNIQUE
Learn the skills necessary to succeed in the voice-over business. The course will cover audition skills, copy interpretation, finding one’s character, using a microphone, breath control and voice placement. A popular class with a knowledgeable and upbeat working actor/educator.

Audition-Based Acceptance • Only 10 Students Accepted Per Session
Is your student interested in landing a gig? In this master series, they’ll learn to deliver confident and dynamic performances coached by Broadway veteran, Deb Lyons (Smokey Joe's Café, Hairspray, Next to Normal). There is much to be learned from a seasoned professional, and Ms. Lyons couples her expertise with a supportive, upbeat approach to help young singers achieve their maximum potential. Workshop will focus on stage performance, song interpretation and auditioning techniques.

"Everyone Can Write A Song"

Thursday APRIL 16 and Friday APRIL 17, 2015
Day 1:  The process of expressing our feelings is one of the most important elements in creating a song. Learn step by step: how to put your feelings into a composition, how to remove the blocks that stifle your creativity, and how to discover your own personal unique stamp that gives the listener something they will never forget. Share a little of your heart and soul with other like-minded songwriters.
Day 2: On day two you will present your ideas. Support and feedback from peers and instructor will help you to refine and rework the composition. The evening culminates with your song coming to life as it is sung by a professional vocalist. Past participants have praised the supportive and positive approach that Gordon brings to his workshops.  Through his vast and varied career, Gordon Brown is able to tap into your musical experiences on many levels. This course fills quickly so register early.

What really happened between the wolf and the three little pigs? Your child will act it out and explore a new side of the story in this theatrical and imaginative re-telling of a classic tale. 
 
MAY 16 • "Click Clack Moo" and other Doreen Cronin Stories • Ages: 4-6    
This workshop starts the creative storytelling of author Doreen Cronin, including her classics Click Clack MooDooby Dooby Moo and Duck for President
 
MAY 30 • "Fractured Fairytales" by A.J. Jacobs • Ages: 6-8    
These fairy-tales with a silly twist will have you laughing all the way through "Goldilocks and the Three Bears" and "Little Red Ridinghood." 
 
JUNE 13 • "Giraffes Can't Dance" by Giles Andrene and Guy Parker-Rees • Ages: 4-6    
Children will explore and imitate the wild jungle animals of Giraffes Can't Dance in this creative movement, music and theatre workshop!

In this fast paced, high energy camp, students will dive into the music and moves of Broadway's most iconic shows. Session includes acting, dancing and singing, and culminates with an informal classroom demonstration for parents and friends. This is the perfect camp for fans of musical theatre. FEMALE POP VOCALISTS WORKSHOP WEEK
Calling all female pop vocalists: sing lead or backup in a girl group! Learn how to front a group and how to sing background harmonies. Students will be taught how to work the mic and stage -- and how to hit those high notes! This week-long camp will cover pop/rock songs and classic Motown, from Adele’s “Rollin in the Deep” to "Stop, In the Name of Love," this camp’s attendees will make their mark!

ACTING FOR TV AND FILM WEEK
Young actors will learn the practical skills necessary to compete in the field of commercial acting. Using scripts from film, students will work on developing a strong, honest and nuanced line delivery. While the camp focus is on commercial acting, the techniques learned will apply to all acting challenges – (need examples). Students will also work with monologues, scene study, improvisation, cold readings, and how preparing themselves for interviews and auditions. (Also offered August 3-7)

ROCKIN’ MUSICALS AT THE BASIE WEEK

Groove to the music from Grease, The Wiz, Pippin, and Godspell in this camp that’s sure to get you moving!  This is a great opportunity to hone your musical theatre skills, while meeting new friends and preparing for an informal, in-class performance for guests at the end of the week. Rhythm is central to life. The heartbeat of all cultural traditions is the drum, among the oldest of all known musical instruments. Come experience the joy and power of rhythm and the sounds of percussion. with traditional group pieces, plus current pop music rhythms adapted for our ensemble. Kids Jam Time! This basic drumming workshop while teaching basic rhythmic skills will build self-confidence and self-esteem, all while expanding the musical imagination and creativity in its participants.

FAMILY DRUM CIRCLE 
Celebrate family and community and discover your own beat!  The values necessary in a strong community are those nurtured in a facilitated drum circle: like listening skills, respect, patience and cooperation. Discover the unifying power of rhythm and playing together to achieve higher levels of musical expression. The Family Drum Circle is recommended for anyone who can follow a rhythm – but  no prior experience is necessary. Some instruments will be available or you may bring your own, found instruments like plastic buckets, tubes and water bottles are also welcome!
