This is the
perfect class for those who love to act and sing. Young actors give life to
imaginative characters through voice and body movement. Under the direction of
this multi-talented singer/musician/educator, children are free to explore the
wonders of their imagination while gaining confidence and having a whole lot of
fun in the process. A simple classroom demonstration for parents and friends
will be held at the end of the 10-week session.

JUNIOR ROCK VOCALS

Find your
inner rock star and get a chance to express it. Using some of your favorite
rock/pop songs, students will learn how to embrace the characteristics of their
favorite artists and create their own individual vocal identity. Class includes
work on proper breathing, performance skills and lyric breakdown. Students are
invited to perform in the end-of-session Student Showcase (December 10) on the
stage of the Count Basie Theatre; a great opportunity to improve performance skills.

SENIOR ROCK VOCALS
5-6PM AGES: 11-15 FEE: $195

Whether you
are on the path to a professional career as a singer or just wish to learn how
to deliver a song, this class is perfect for you. Students will learn to
increase their vocal range and adjust to a variety of vocal styles. Class
includes warm ups, proper breathing, lyric interpretation, group harmonies as
well as solo performance techniques. Mr. Alfonso is both motivating and
inspiring. Students are invited to perform in the end-of-session Student
Showcase (December 10) on the stage of the
Count Basie Theatre; a great opportunity to improve performance skills.

Full year
program (September – June) Twelve students will be accepted into this intensive
program. We are looking for individuals with potential coupled with a strong
work ethic and ability to focus. Curriculum will include vocal
training, dance techniques and acting skills. Students’ progress will be
monitored, and assignments will be geared to the needs of each individual.

Those who
plan to audition should have a
prepared monologue & song. NO
accompanist will be provided. (Call if you need help with this). Audition will
also include an interview, cold reading and choreographed sequences. Once a
student is accepted into the program no refunds will be granted.

BEGINNER ACTING

In this
introductory level class young thespians will learn the basic elements of
acting for the stage. Class will teach how to incorporate the use of body,
voice and mind to create believable characters. Curriculum will also focus on
script analysis and interpretation. Students are invited to perform in the
end-of-session Student Showcase (December 10) on the stage of the Count Basie
Theatre; a great opportunity to improve
performance skills.
MONDAY BEGINNER ACTING
FOR TEENS I/II

This class
provides the perfect
environment to challenge your creative energy and to see if you have what it
takes to become an actor. Students will learn the importance of projection, articulation
and rhythm in speaking dialogue. They will also begin to understand and
incorporate energy,
flexibility and commitment to their actions and movements. Class will also
focus on using creativity and imagination to create dynamic characters.

Whatever your
level of ability, this class provides a great workout and is great fun, too!
This is the perfect place to learn those tap sequences you’ll need at your next
audition. Combinations will challenge you and warm-up exercises are designed to
strengthen and develop clean tap technique. Mr. Stanton has the ability to
challenge and motivate his students …whether you are a beginner or a Gene Kelly
clone!
TUESDAY BROADWAY BASICS

INSTRUCTOR: SAMANTHA GIUSTINIANI
Act, sing and dance with Ms. Giustiniani in this musical
theatre introductory class. These three important skills will be incorporated
into the class structure. Class includes a wide variety of exercises to instill
the concepts of focus and discipline, seasoned with a healthy dose of laugher
and fun. Students are invited to perform in the end-of-session Student Showcase
(December 10) on the stage of the Count Basie Theatre; a great opportunity to

is on creating well-rounded musical theatre performers. The class incorporates
all aspects of developing strong vocal skills: breathing, posture, diction, and
lyric interpretation. Script work and simple blocking will round out the

This class
builds confidence through language development, movement and creative theatre
games. Mr. Cooley’s positive approach to teaching creates an atmosphere of
camaraderie while exploring the magical world of live theatre. A simple
demonstration for
parents and friends will be held in the classroom at the end of the 10-week
session.

basic foundations of good dance technique while working on posture,
flexibility, strength and endurance. Curriculum covers a wide variety of dance
styles and attitudes. This is an important aspect to becoming a musical theatre
performer that is

ACTING TECHNIQUES II/III

Expand your
acting prowess in this techniques class. All exercises are designed to give
young actors the opportunity to improve their level of expertise and to gain an
understanding of character analysis and scene study. As students’ acting skills
broaden, they are able to layer their performances with believability and a

WEDNESDAY DANCE FUNDAMENTALS TEEN/ADULT

of genres. From the fundamentals of ballet and jazz to the latest hip-hop

We are
offering this class as a full-year program (September – June). Twelve individuals
will be accepted into this program. This year-long conservatory style training
program is intended for students who are career oriented or wish to take their
training to a professional level. Curriculum includes improvisation, script
analysis and scene study, character development and vocal training (breath
control, vocal power and projection, diction and dialects.) Students will be
trained in a wide variety of styles ranging from the classics to contemporary
material. Each individual’s progress will be carefully monitored to ensure that
they are being challenged and motivated.

WEDNESDAY DIALECTS FOR KIDS
7-8PM
AGES: 9-12 FEE: $195
INSTRUCTOR: DAN COOLEY
What do the plays Mary
Poppins, Oliver Twist, My Fair Lady, Noises Off and The Importance of
Being Earnest all have in common? The
answer is that they all require the actors to use a British dialect. There are
multiple regional dialects, but this camp will address those most commonly
used. Students will develop proper inflection, enunciation as well as the
melody of the dialects. Using dialects is an important and necessary skill to
add to your actor’s toolbox.

ACTING FOR TV AND FILM
8-9:30PM AGES: 15 AND UP FEE: $290

A look into the fascinating world of acting for film.
Students will work on auditioning techniques, the do’s and don’ts of commercial acting, and how it differs
from acting for the stage. From cold readings, using cue cards and developing
interview savvy, students will learn the basic tools for commercial success.
This dynamic instructor offers a challenging and motivating environment that
affords students the opportunity for growth.

sing in an ensemble is the focus of this class. Whether you are a solo singing
diva or a timid choir member, you are guaranteed to have a blast with this

KIDS ON CAMERA
4-5PM AGES: 4-5 FEE: $195

This class is
an excellent introduction to the world of television and film. Students will
overcome shyness and gain
confidence while learning the basics of acting in front of the camera. Class
focuses on helping students to develop a natural and spontaneous line delivery.
On camera work will be evaluated and used to improve performance quality.

includes a variety of exercises using actual scripts from commercials and film.
One of the goals in this class is to instill a strong sense of self-confidence,

Have you ever
wondered what goes into making a person a singer? Diane Fox, with over 20 years
of professional working experience both in opera and musical theatre, will
guide you in the many aspects of becoming one! Vocal warm-ups, diction
exercises, proper breathing and posture are just some of the skills one needs
to become a good singer. The class will help each student to strengthen and
develop tone, range and pitch accuracy along with interpretation, developing
the character of the song being performed. Students are invited to perform in

Internationally acclaimed Mezzo-soprano, Diane Fox brings a wealth of knowledge
and expertise to all of her classes. Under her tutelage numerous young
vocalists have gone on to garner apprenticeships at professional opera
companies and to win countless awards. This class will cover some of the
necessary technical skills to becoming a strong vocalist and will also focus on
developing the character of the song being performed. Fundamentals of reading
music will also be incorporated into this class. Students are invited to
perform in the end-of-session Student Showcase (December 10) on the stage of
the Count Basie Theatre; a great opportunity to improve performance skills.
