MUSIC AND RHYTHMS
This class promises to wake up our youngest singers with some hand-clappin', toe-stompin’ rhythmic activity!  Singing, instruments and dance will all be incorporated to round out the experience and add to the fun.

STORY-TIME THEATRE WITH CRAFTS
Students will bring their favorite stories to life by using their imaginations to create characters -- one of the first steps in becoming actors themselves. This camp builds self-confidence and helps develop an understanding of team work.

MUSICAL THEATRE KIDS

ACTING FOR TV AND FILM
Young actors will learn practical skills necessary to compete in the commercial acting field. Using scripts from film, students work on developing a strong, honest and nuanced line delivery. While this week-long camp focuses on commercial acting, the techniques learned will apply to all acting challenges. The week will also include monologue work, scene study, improvisation, cold readings, and how-to's on interview / audition preps.

TEEN COMEDY IMPROV
Dive into the world of improv comedy through a series of exercises and theater games taught by Michael O’Keeffe, director of  Count Basie Theatre’s Teen Improv troupe. Designed for both serious actors as well as those interested in dabbling with the art, this class will help students to think on their feet and develop creative problem solving skills. These techniques are also valuable tools for actors looking to dig deeper and create more believable characters.

BECOMING AN ACTOR…A WEEK-LONG ACTOR’S INTENSIVE FOR TEENS
Learn from professionals in this week-long immersion into the intricacies of performance. As educators, directors and performers, each instructor brings a unique perspective in creating this intensive workshop.  Each day will offer innovative and challenging opportunities for students to explore and grow as artists. Topics covered include monologue and scene work, improvisation, stage and camera techniques, movement, theories of acting, auditioning, savvy speech and diction. Students should wear comfortable clothing (no flip-flops) and bring notebooks, lunch and a daily snack.

The beloved songs and endearing characters of both works will come to life through singing, dancing and acting. It's great fun and a fabulous way to introduce youngsters to musical theatre. BROADWAY MUSICAL THEATER

This is a fast paced, performance-based session, incorporating singing, dance and acting techniques. Musical theater is the basis for the workshop, with an emphasis on singing, blocking and script work. It's the perfect session to build confidence while honing your performance skills. The week culminates with an in-class demonstration for parents and friends. Students should bring a daily snack.

Want to land that role in the next musical? VOCAL INTENSIVE
Discover how to be an engaging, dynamic performer. Vocal Intensive Week will focus on both choral and solo vocal techniques, providing students with techniques to strengthen their vocal skills and increase their vocal range and stamina, while learning to breathe correctly and reduce physical tension in their performance. Students
 will have one-on-one coaching time as well as ensemble work.

STAGED READING WORKSHOP
Working side by side with professional actors students will rehearse for a performance for parents and friends held on the last day of the week-long camp. In a staged reading, the actors actually hold the scripts, there is minimal blocking, few set pieces and props. New works are often introduced and tested through publicly performed staged readings. The readings are followed by a talk-back, critique and a Q & A. The unique format of this week-long camp will concentrate on developing a strong understanding of characterization through the exploration of intellectual, emotional, and vocal dynamics that are often overlooked because the actors are concerned with blocking and memorization.  Since the adult professionals will actually be performing with the students which adds yet another layer to this very exciting innovative camp.

BROADWAY BALLROOM DANCE WORKSHOP
Need to improve your ballroom dancing skills? Mastering the basics of ballroom dance is a huge advantage to the musical theatre performer. Dance types like the waltz, polka, foxtrot, cha-cha, swing, and lindy are used in just about every high school musical, and this workshop will teach the basics of these dance styles, plus basic partnering work, turns and spins.

LATIN BALLROOM NIGHT
So you think you can’t dance?   Let’s get you off the sidelines and onto the dancefloor. This workshop is the perfect place to hone those red-hot Latin dance moves! Taught by a seasoned professional, this workshop promises to be informative, great exercise and fun!

Ever wonder what it would be like to be an actor?  This class introduces students to the art of acting through a variety of theatre games, improvisational situations and basic acting skills. The workshop promises to be a magical journey into the world of acting.

HALLOWEEN GHOULISH GHOSTS AND GHASTLY GOBLINS
Dress as your favorite character and enter the magical world of theatre in this holiday adventure class, designed to encourage creativity in a collaborative, learning environment. Theatre games and a variety of movement and craft activities will round out this spooktacular workshop.

THE WONDERFUL WIZARD OF OZ
We’re definitely not in Kansas anymore! Follow our yellow brick road to a theatrical adventure, as our Academy instructor leads this fun dramatics class that includes singing, dance and crafts…all themed after the wonderful Wizard of Oz!

SATURDAY, DECEMBER 12
SNOW WHITE AND THE SEVEN DWARFS
Happy, Grumpy, Sneezy, Dopey, the wicked stepmother….all of these characters and their personalities come to life in this creative dramatics workshop. It’s a perfect place for young actors beginning to understand human emotion, and learning to incorporate these expressions into characterization. This Academy offering is an excellent introduction to the art of becoming an actor.
