Don McLean, legendary American singer-songwriter, best known for ‘American Pie’ which skyrocketed to #1 on the Billboard charts and was named as one of the The Recording Industry Association of America Top 365 Songs of the Twentieth Century.  The album of the same name also topped the Billboard charts.  Both the song and the album shot up on the charts in the UK, establishing McLean as an international star.  Other notable and chart topping songs include “Vincent (Starry Starry Night),” “And I Love You,” and “Crying” to name a few.  McLean shared his life story in the 2007 biography The Don McLean Story: Killing Us Softly With His Songs written by Alan Howard,  In 2012 McLean was awarded the BBC Folk Music Lifetime Achievement Award and saw the international broadcast of “American Troubadour” documentary charting McLean’s life and career.
