The 2017 Count Basie Theatre Winter Gala was celebrated in style — as the inaugural “Little Steven’s Underground Garage” concert at the Basie! The idea was to transform the theater into a rock n’ roll club – much like the organization will do when it adds a second performance space as part of its $20 million expansion plan. The Basie stage was extended to cover nearly 80% of the audience seats, creating a room-wide concert environment that truly became Little Steven’s Underground Garage.
