Director of Ticketing Services (Full Time)

The historic Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank, NJ is seeking an outgoing, service oriented, experienced Director of Ticketing Services to supervise our ticket sales operations. The Count Basie Theatre celebrates its 90th anniversary this year, and the leadership and Board of Trustees have announced a public vision and plans for the future, which includes further expansion and renovation.

Reporting to the Vice President of Operations, the Director of Ticketing Services is responsible for the day to day operations of the ticketing department and is the lead on all customer service issues. This position works in tandem with the Operations, Marketing, and Development departments. The Director of Ticketing Services is responsible for programming and monitoring the ticketing system, tracking daily sales and deposits, ticket account management and fulfillment, providing excellent customer service to all theater patrons, external clients, and ensure that all revenue generating opportunities are maximized.

This role is highly visible and interacts with sponsors, members, vendors, clients, and resident arts organizations (Phoenix Productions, CODA, New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, Monmouth Civic Chorus). The Director of Ticketing Services leads by example at all times and provides the highest level of customer service to all guests, vendors, clients, and staff. The Director of Ticketing Services will supervise and provide leadership to the Box Office Manager and Assistant Box Office Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform all event set-up and administration of events in ticketing software.
  • Oversee and develop sales strategies to include group sales, series, promotional offerings, etc.
  • Create and monitor a customer service resolution tracking program to ensure that every single guest has a positive experience at the Basie.
  • Liaise with various departments, coordinating sales/ticket-related projects with Membership, Marketing, etc.
  • Hire, manage, train, motivate, and schedule Box Office staff.
  • Set up and execute VIP/Fan Club/Presales with third party ticketing agencies.
  • Handle special needs and ADA Accessibility compliance as it pertains to ticket sales.
  • Set a positive example for Box Office staff by modeling professional and expert customer service.
  • Develop and maintain documentation and training material on Box Office policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service skills, respond promptly to customer inquiries and requests, and train all Box Office personnel in customer service standards.
  • Reconcile any issues between ticket sales and the financial department including shortages or overages in cash drawers, chargebacks, etc.
  • Advise and assist with the implementation, reporting, and generating of event reports using ticketing platform.
  • Create reports and lists at the request of department heads.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 6 years Box Office experience required.
  • Minimum 4 years managerial experience required.
  • Previous experience with Ticketmaster, AXS, or Tessitura required.
  • Previous experience managing a ticketing platform migration and implementation is required.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to work in a collaborative environment, prioritize and manage multiple, ongoing projects.
  • Superior customer service skills with the ability to efficiently and effectively resolve issues for internal and external customers, frequently in a time-sensitive environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Position requires the ability to accommodate a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as well as being able to perform in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.

Junior Graphic / Video Designer – Marketing (Full Time)

The historic Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank has a rare opening for a junior graphic designer in its Department of Marketing. The Count Basie Theatre celebrates its 90th anniversary this year, and the leadership and Board of Trustees have announced a public vision and plans for the future, which includes further expansion and renovation.

Responsibilities:

  • Follow the guidance of the lead designer in preparation of print and digital materials;
  • Design promotions for live events and arts education programs, including but not limited to a quarterly playbill, direct mail, newspaper and magazine ads, etc.;
  • Assist the marketing department in all aspects of customer-facing presentations, from imagery and video on social media and TheBASIE.org, to posters, digital displays and more.

Requirements:

  • An appreciation for the arts and arts education – this is important!
  • Team player that is self-motivated, persistent, and proactive in driving results but can be creative and flexible in overcoming obstacles;
  • A portfolio that demonstrates a fluency with print and digital design;
  • Technical expertise in the use of Adobe Creative Suite (esp. InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop), plus MS Office suite programs;
  • Technical knowledge of preparing art for print and digital media;
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Understanding of print production, photography and typography preferred.
  • Experience with photography and videography / video packaging a major advantage;
  • Experience in WordPress and web coding a major advantage.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a four-year college or university required.
  • Two or more years of experience in the graphic design field preferred.
  • Understanding of printing processes, photography, illustration and typography preferred.

Safety & Security Team Member (Part Time)

The Count Basie Theatre is seeking outgoing, service oriented candidates for our Safety & Security Team. Qualified candidates should have at least 3 years of experience in a related field such as EMT, law enforcement, or fire safety. First responders are encouraged to apply. The primary qualities and responsibilities of this position include:

• Comply with and enforce Count Basie Theatre’s Audience Code of Conduct, policies, and post orders.
• Provide a visual deterrence by maintaining high visibility at all times.
• Encourage and ensure guest safety and a positive experience through proactive personal intervention to resolve altercations or grievances.
• Safeguard against theft and property damage.
• Conduct detailed observation of people and property within area of responsibility.
• Respond to all safety and security calls in a timely and professional manner.

Teaching Artists (Part Time)

The Count Basie Theatre Education and Outreach program is currently seeking qualified and versatile teaching artists to join an our expanding programs, plus an initiative for the 2017-2018 school year serving Monmouth and Ocean County students. At this time, targeted grades are 4th through 8th.

We seek candidates specializing in various genres, including but not limited to dance, hip-hop, cultural dance forms, creative dance and movement,  poetry, acting, improv, voice and speech, creative drama, reader’s theater, musical theater, vocal, choir and instrumental instruction, drumming, yoga, Capoeira, Zumba and more.

Qualifications:
• Degree in your art form(s) preferred but not required
• At least 2 years of teaching artist experience within a diverse age group and educational settings
• Exceptional knowledge of content in your arts genre
• Strong communication skills
• Classroom management skills
• The ideal candidate is someone who has a passion for arts education and is able to commit to the duration of a program (September – June) while maintaining a consistent schedule.

Compensation: Compensation is commensurate with experience.

Usher (Part Time)

The Count Basie Theatre is seeking friendly, professional, and motivated ushers with excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. Ushers must be knowledgeable about the Basie, its policies, and programs. This is a part-time position and the number of hours worked is dependent upon several factors, including experience, availability, and scheduling needs.

Qualifications: Excellent communication and customer service skills, friendly and positive manner, and physical ability to stand and seat patrons. Qualified ushers will also be expected to scan tickets, assist with merchandise selling, and help with special events.

Box Office Representative (Part Time)

The Count Basie Theatre is seeking motivated, professional, customer service oriented box office sales representatives. A box office sales representative is on the front lines for the Count Basie Theatre — a resource of knowledge for upcoming performances, programs, special events, and an expert in customer service. This is a part-time position and hours will vary based on the venue’s schedule. Box office representatives must be able to work days, evenings, and weekends.

Qualifications: Excellent communication and customer service skills, computer knowledge, and a pleasant phone manner. Previous box office or ticketing software experience is a plus. Salary is hourly and based on experience.

Showtime Advertising Sales Representative

The Basie is looking for a self-motivated, articulate, creative and enthusiastic sales person to join the team selling advertisements in our Showtime quarterly playbill. Your hours are your own, and your earning potential is limited only by your ability to sell. Showtime is placed in front of more than 200,000 affluent customers a year, ranging in demographic from milennials and families to the wealthy and affluent. Bartenders (Part Time)
The Count Basie Theatre maintains a roster of experienced bartenders to work with the regular bar staff on an as-needed basis. Working hours are typically from 5PM- 6PM to about 11PM.
