Sponsorship Manager

The historic Count Basie Theatre seeks a motivated individual to join the theater’s development team as the Sponsorship Manager.

The ideal candidate will have experience in selling event advertising and marketing opportunities to regional and national brands/agencies, meeting and achieving revenue-oriented goals, and the ability to enhance current relationships with local corporations. This individual should exhibit extreme attention to detail, be technologically savvy, as well as have excellent phone, presentation and negotiation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Sales of naming rights, event sponsorships, program sponsorships, and other forms of sponsor support for the Basie
  • Develop donor relationships and increase donor support
  • Coordinate and execute special events in conjunction with shows and other programs to deliver a premium experience for donors and sponsors
  • Draft, design and deliver sponsor packages that express a premium experience, high visibility and measurable value for donors and sponsors
  • Manage all sponsorship activities, including sponsor prospecting, proposals and presentations, sponsor contracts and donor agreements, benefit fulfillment, and follow-up and support
  • Provide timely responses to prospects and existing sponsor requests
  • Monitor, measure and report on results of all sponsor and donor solicitation activities and marketing and communication efforts
  • Routine contact with past and current donors and sponsors to nurture relationships
  • Timely and effective correspondence, acknowledgements and “thank you” communication for sponsors and donors
  • Fostering positive and collaborative relationships with community residents, local nonprofit organizations and businesses
  • Manage the advertising sales person(s) securing ads for the theater’s playbill, Showtime, and collaborate with the marketing department to produce the publication
  • Work collaboratively to increase ad sales and participate in the production of the Basie’s Showtime playbill
  • Oversee one part-time sponsor sales person, contract staff for events and projects

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience with fundraising and/or sponsorship sales required with meaningful outcomes and year-over-year growth in funds raised or sponsorships sold
  • Strict attention to detail is imperative
  • Self-starter mentality; takes initiative to reach goals and positive outcomes
  • Must be able to use good judgment and work independently in a multi-task position within a dynamic, team-based environment
  • Knowledge of donor relations and nonprofit working environment
  • Ability to partner with and communicate effectively with all levels of management
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong listening skills
  • Strong organizational skills necessary
  • Minimum 3 years in corporate sponsorship sales

Part-Time Violin / Viola Instructor – Monmouth Conservatory

The historic Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank, NJ is seeking a part time Violin / Viola Instructor to work at its renowned Monmouth Conservatory.

This ideal candidate is responsible for teaching private lessons in violin/viola to students of all ages and abilities. The ability to teach violin and viola to beginning students is necessary. This individual must show organizational skills and an ability to effectively communicate with students and staff.

The candidate will teach private violin/viola lessons while incorporating elements of music theory, aural skills, practical technique, ear training, instrumental technique, and interpretation; assist students during ensemble rehearsals; work with administration on lesson scheduling and attend scheduled staff meetings. Knowledge of either Suzuki Method or Dalcroze Eurythmics a plus.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in music education or performance or equivalent experience. We require that all employees submit to and clear a fingerprint and background check.

This is a part-time, hourly position and does not provide benefits. Pay is commensurate with experience.

Part-Time Cello Instructor – Monmouth Conservatory

Finance Assistant (Part Time)

The historic Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank, NJ is seeking a part time Finance Assistant to work at its Red Bank, NJ office. The Count Basie Theatre celebrates its 90th anniversary this year, and the leadership and Board of Trustees have announced a public vision and plans for the future, which includes further expansion and renovation.

We’re seeking a motivated individual with at least 2 years accounting / bookkeeping experience, confidence in a high-paced environment, strong communication skills and a keen attention to detail.  Experience in processing payroll a plus.  Responsibilities include but not limited to entering invoices, assisting with payroll, filing, bank deposit runs etc.  Knowledge of QuickBooks Accounting software and Paychex Software helpful.

Showtime Advertising Sales Representative

The historic Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank, NJ is seeking an outgoing advertising salesperson to acquire new customers for its renowned Showtime quarterly playbill. The Count Basie Theatre celebrates its 90th anniversary this year, and the leadership and Board of Trustees have announced a public vision and plans for the future, which includes further expansion and renovation.

The visibility the organization will enjoy through this project is an excellent opportunity for businesses to be seen by the Basie’s customers and the community at large. Showtime is distributed to more than 220,000 customers annually, representing an astute and affluent segment of the central New Jersey marketplace. This is a commission-based position with remuneration for both new and renewed business.

Safety & Security Team Member (Part Time)

The Count Basie Theatre is seeking outgoing, service oriented candidates for our Safety & Security Team. Qualified candidates should have at least 3 years of experience in a related field such as EMT, law enforcement, or fire safety. First responders are encouraged to apply. The primary qualities and responsibilities of this position include:

• Comply with and enforce Count Basie Theatre’s Audience Code of Conduct, policies, and post orders.
• Provide a visual deterrence by maintaining high visibility at all times.
• Encourage and ensure guest safety and a positive experience through proactive personal intervention to resolve altercations or grievances.
• Safeguard against theft and property damage.
• Conduct detailed observation of people and property within area of responsibility.
• Respond to all safety and security calls in a timely and professional manner.
• Ability to adapt positively to frequently changing, fluid situations without the loss of efficiency or composure
• Ability to stand for 4+ hours
• Ability to lift 50lbs

Teaching Artists (Part Time)

The Count Basie Theatre Education and Outreach program is currently seeking qualified and versatile teaching artists to join an our expanding programs, plus an initiative for the 2017-2018 school year serving Monmouth and Ocean County students. At this time, targeted grades are 4th through 8th.

We seek candidates specializing in various genres, including but not limited to dance, hip-hop, cultural dance forms, creative dance and movement,  poetry, acting, improv, voice and speech, creative drama, reader’s theater, musical theater, vocal, choir and instrumental instruction, drumming, yoga, Capoeira, Zumba and more.

Qualifications:
• Degree in your art form(s) preferred but not required
• At least 2 years of teaching artist experience within a diverse age group and educational settings
• Exceptional knowledge of content in your arts genre
• Strong communication skills
• Classroom management skills
• The ideal candidate is someone who has a passion for arts education and is able to commit to the duration of a program (September – June) while maintaining a consistent schedule.

Compensation: Compensation is commensurate with experience.

Usher (Part Time)

The Count Basie Theatre is seeking friendly, professional, and motivated ushers with excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. Ushers must be knowledgeable about the Basie, its policies, and programs. This is a part-time position and the number of hours worked is dependent upon several factors, including experience, availability, and scheduling needs.

Qualifications: Excellent communication and customer service skills, friendly and positive manner, and physical ability to stand and seat patrons. Qualified ushers will also be expected to scan tickets, assist with merchandise selling, and help with special events.

Box Office Representative (Part Time)

The Count Basie Theatre is seeking motivated, professional, customer service oriented box office sales representatives. A box office sales representative is on the front lines for the Count Basie Theatre — a resource of knowledge for upcoming performances, programs, special events, and an expert in customer service. This is a part-time position and hours will vary based on the venue’s schedule. Box office representatives must be able to work days, evenings, and weekends.

Qualifications: Excellent communication and customer service skills, computer knowledge, and a pleasant phone manner. Previous box office or ticketing software experience is a plus. Salary is hourly and based on experience.

Bartenders (Part Time)

The Count Basie Theatre maintains a roster of experienced bartenders to work with the regular bar staff on an as-needed basis. Working hours are typically from 5PM- 6PM to about 11PM. Experience in an upscale restaurant or nightclub atmosphere is highly desired. Scheduling is flexible. Send resumes and at least three references from previous employers to info@thebasie.org.
